Meet Jodie

Jodie Karr is a passionate artist located in Asheville, North Carolina, with roots in the scenic small town of Lake Lure, North Carolina. They have cultivated a profound love for creating through drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, music, and collage.

Jodie has been fascinated by their own dreams since they could pick up a crayon. Drawing inspiration from the alluring realms of the surrealist and Dada movements, Jodie is driven to traverse the boundaries of traditional art forms, engaging in a dynamic exploration of diverse mediums.

By combining various materials and utilizing different techniques of mediums expresses the link between automatic art making and tapping into the subconscious in a calculated manner.

Automatic art making allows the exploration of the subconscious and internalized mind that is influenced by their waking life experiences. For Jodie, creating art is an extension of the dreaming process; a mirror, reflecting back the creative psyche.
